Vampire Expert 1

Vampire Expert 1

ATV revived the Chinese vampire genre on the small screen with Vampire Expert in 1995, starring none other than Lam Ching Ying, the most iconic actor of Taoist priests in Hong Kong cinema. Produced by ATV's top producer Yeung Siu Hung (Heroic Legend of the Yang's Family), the supernatural drama is an entertaining blend of kung fu, black comedy, and horror elements. It co-stars Norman Tsui, Wong Shu Kei, Yung Kam Cheong, Annie Man, Wong Po Yan, Tam Bing Man, and Kingdom Yuen, who eventually became Lam's real-life girlfriend, and it was such a big hit with the audience that ATV made a bigger-scale sequel a year later. After World War II, master exorcist Mo Siu Fong (Lam Ching Ying) and his disciple Ma Fan (Yung Kam Cheong) come to Hong Kong in their pursuit of a thousand-year-old Chinese vampire. Along the way they meet a variety of people, including the righteous policeman Chung Bong (Wong Shu Kei) and the fengshui master Yeung Fei Wan (Norman Tsui). Little do they know that Wan is actually a vicious and power-hungry madman, who would go to extreme lengths like turning himself into the most powerful vampire king that even Fong is no match for! Will Hong Kong fall into the clutches of the evil? This series is jam-packed with exciting actions and special effects making it one of a kind with added suspense too. While in the midst of capturing vampires, it brings vampire expert Fong, from China to Hong Kong. Along the journey, he befriended 5 special people. My Date With A Vampire I

My Date With A Vampire I

My Date with a Vampire is a 1998 Hong Kong television series produced by ATV. The story is based on the future events of the plot of Vampire Expert, a similar two-season television drama aired on ATV in 1995 and 1996. It blends aspects of the jiangshi (Chinese "hopping" vampire) with those of western vampires, while injecting elements of Chinese mythology and modern horror legends. The series is a tribute to Lam Ching-ying, the lead actor of Vampire Expert and a prominent cast member in the Mr. Vampire franchise, who died of liver cancer in 1997. It was followed by My Date with a Vampire II (1999) and My Date with a Vampire III (2004). Fong Kwok-wah is a Chinese guerrilla fighter from the time of the Second Sino-Japanese War. In 1938, he was fighting with Yamamoto Ichifu, a major of the Imperial Japanese Army, when they were interrupted by Cheung San, the progenitor of all vampires. The two men and a boy named Fuk-sang were bitten by Cheung San and they become vampires. In present-day 1998, Fong lives in Hong Kong under a new name, Fong Tin-yau. His physical appearance has not changed since 60 years ago. He works as a policeman while Fuk-sang lives together with him and pretends to be his son, who currently attends primary school. Fong meets Ma Siu-ling, the heiress to a clan of ghostbusters who have dedicated themselves to ridding the world of evil supernatural beings. Fong gradually becomes embroiled in a love triangle with Ma and Wong Jan-jan, Ma's close friend and confidante. On the other hand, Yamamoto has become the influential boss of a big company, and he commands a small group of vampire followers. Planning to turn every human being into a vampire, Yamamoto unleashes his minions to attack people and spread the "vampire gene". Hong Kong sinks into chaos as vampires multiply and roam the streets freely. At this point, Fong teams up with Ma and his friends to stop Yamamoto and destroy him. However, even after Yamamoto dies, not long later, a magician called Yu-meng Sap-sam resurrects him and controls him to do his bidding. The magician is actually Lo Hau, an evil sorcerer from ancient times, and he wants to dominate the universe. Once again, Fong, Ma and their allies combine forces to confront Lo Hau and put an end to his wicked ambitions.

My Date With A Vampire II

My Date With A Vampire II

My Date with a Vampire II is a 1999 Hong Kong television series produced by ATV as a sequel to My Date with a Vampire (1998), but with a completely new story. It was followed by My Date with a Vampire III in 2004. The series starred many cast members from the first season. Like the first season, My Date with a Vampire II also blends aspects of the jiangshi (Chinese "hopping" vampire) with those of western vampires, while injecting elements of Chinese mythology and modern horror legends, but in this season, there is an additional touch of eschatology The story in the second season is a reboot of the first season but the main characters' names and roles are still similar to those in the first season. Some new characters and new subplots are also introduced in this season. At the end of My Date with a Vampire, the buddha Vairocana grants Fong Kwok-wah (Fong Tin-yau) his wish to travel back in time and be a vampire no more. In My Date with a Vampire II, Fong Kwok-wah and Yamamoto Ichifu clash again in 1938 and their fight arouses the attention of Cheung San (the progenitor of all vampires), who interrupts the fight. Just as Cheung San is about to bite the two men and turn them into vampires, Ma Dan-na appears and attacks Cheung San, driving him away, thus sparing Fong and Yamamoto from their fates. Not long later, Fong agrees to help Ma hunt down and destroy Cheung San. They succeed in trapping Cheung San but he breaks free and bites Fong and the boy Fuk-sang (who is nearby), transforming them into vampires. Fong Kwok-wah and Fuk-sang survive until the present-day (1990s) and their physical appearances have not changed since 60 years ago. However, before Fong became a vampire, he already had a son with his wife Sau, so he now has a grandson named Fong Tin-yau. Fong Tin-yau is killed in an incident in England so Fong Kwok-wah impersonates his grandson. He meets Ma Siu-ling (a descendant of Ma Dan-na), the heiress to a clan of ghostbusters who have dedicated themselves to ridding the world of evil supernatural beings. Fong starts a romance with Ma. My Date with a Vampire III is a 2004 Hong Kong television series produced by ATV as a sequel to My Date with a Vampire (1998) and My Date with a Vampire II (1999), but with a new story line that is different from the first two seasons. Like the first two seasons, My Date with a Vampire III also blends aspects of the jiangshi (Chinese "hopping" vampire) with those of western vampires, while injecting elements of Chinese mythology, eschatology and time travel, with more focus on Chinese mythology in this season as compared to the first two. At the end of the second season, set in early 2001, Fong Tin-yau, Ma Siu-ling and their friends succeeded in preventing the goddess Nüwa from destroying the world. Three years later, in 2004, another eschatological event is about to occur again. The Queen Mother of the West and Fu Xi used to be a pair of lovers in the distant past but they have broken up. Fong uses one final burst of energy to transport Ma back to the human realm, and tells her to find ways to stop the Queen Mother from ending the world. After her return to the human world, Ma has to shoulder the heavy responsibility of preventing the Queen Mother from achieving her objective. She refuses to believe that Fong is dead, so she travels back in time to the Song Dynasty and finds Fong's previous incarnation, Arrowhead, and brings him back to the present-day to help her in her plans. Ma also meets a strange girl called Fong Tin-ngai, who is actually her daughter from the future. She is also reunited with her deceased family members - her parents Ma Tai-lung and Tong Kam-bo, and her brother Ma Siu-fu. At this point, Fong Tin-yau suddenly reappears again and reunites with Ma Siu-ling. Just as everything appears to have been restored to their original states, Fong Tin-yau and Ma Siu-ling get involved in the war between Fu Xi and the Queen Mother again, but the greatest threat to all of them is "destiny", which they have to overcome in order to attain the final victory.
